From sly Roman Gods and victories at war to outrageous food and murder, check out some of the craziest parties to ever take place in human history!
Today’s Weekly Calendar Fun Fact:
Stephen Hawking threw a party for time travelers in 2009. He didn’t publicize it until it was over. This was so only those who time traveled showed up. No one attended.
You may have heard about some of the most wild parties in history. With drunken debauchery, royal rivalries and simply odd happenings, there have been quite a few doozies all in the name of a good time. Take Admiral Russell’s week-long cocktail party that only served one beverage. He invited 5,000 sailors to the bash to drink from a fountain full of brandy wine punch. How big was the fountain? Apparently so huge that men in canoes rowed around inside it to assist as bartenders. Talk about a celebration!
How about Bianca Jagger’s 30th birthday party at Studio 54 where she rode around the dance floor on a horse? Or wouldn’t you have loved to be at JFK’s birthday party in 1962 where Ella sang true and Marilyn performed a sultry rendition of “Happy Birthday” in what is now known as the world’s most expensive dress? Gives you a few ideas for YOUR next bash, doesn’t it?
Admiral Russell’s Brandy Wine Punch Fountain Recipe: 250 gallons of brandy, 125 gallons of wine, 1,400 pounds of sugar, 2,500 lemons, 20 gallons of lime juice and 5 pounds of nutmeg. Serve any which way you’d like.
What historical party would you have attended if you could?
